Memorial Day Traditions and a Riding Lesson

I love Memorial day in Wayne County. Our Tradition starts the night before Memorial Day. This year Oaklee, Roger and I went to change sprinklers. Oaklee can't remember what changing sprinklers is all about so she was quite excited about it. Then we all go to the Lyman Cemetery together to Look at the graves and count how many great, and great great, and great great great and.... etc. Grandparents we have buried so near. There is always a few stories that come up as we wander, count and reminisce
Then we traditionally set out Grandpa's moose and gather pinecones up from his tree and place them in front of the headstone.

We visit, talk and enjoy the evening sunlight. The next morning at 10:00 AM we are at the cemetary again for a short program and a salute to the soldiers of our country who are buried here. The spirit is so strong at these small memorial services. I love that my children can feel it and gain respect for the great people that have died.

A Riding Lesson
O.K. Jack You have a few things you've gotta learn while your here.
#1 You don't get Hay and water every day for nothing.
#2 You have a job to do on this ranch.

So just relax, we're gonna give ya your first riding lesson.

Oh, Good job Jack!!!!! you're doin' great!!
You, too Little Oaklee.
Ya gotta start young on a workin' ranch!!

And last of all

getting ready for Aubree's baptism on Saturday.

A Thousand Things to Blog, and No Time to Do it.

Remember Chance and his determination That Bucks colt would be a boy(yes, buck is a girl horse)Well, she foaled on Wednesday Morning. And........

Meet Jack

Yes, It is a little colt and How Chance knew that is anybodies guess. What a kid. Now the discussion has turned to "Who's gonna break it? It's a toss up between Braden and Caib. Although Caibs in the process of breaking Lilly so the odds are it'll be Braden. He's done a pretty durn good job breaking Sammy, his first colt. And so Life moves on......next we have

Fifteen of these adorable little gals.

Five are Rhode Island Reds, five are White Leghorns, and five are Barred Rocks(black)

I love having chickens But until they get big enough to be outside in their own little coop it is some what of a nusiance Ah well it'll be worth it. I love not having to buy eggs.

And then the last week of school with talent shows, awards assemblies, school hikes, etc. Then Aubree's baptism is on June 5th and I'm in the process of making a movie of the three cute little eight year old girls who are getting baptized. We'll squeeze Bradens Baseball games and practices, in between all that, and Caibs Working Ranch horse classes.

Oh, and I forgot, I'm also under the false impression that once school gets out, for the summer, tomorrow, That life will slow down and be so much easier. Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha HaHa Ha Snort Ha Ha Ha, big breath, wimper.

herding sheep and a poem for Chance

Big, Tall Cowboy

There’s a cowboy that I know, He’s big and strong and tall
When he gets up in his saddle he won’t ever fall.

He herds cows like a pro reading’ every move they make
He makes herdin’ all them cows look like a “piece of cake”,

He’s as tough as all git out, I know that that’s no lie.
Riding all day long can make pro athletes want to cry.

And he won’t never quit, it makes me really sad!!
Especially when I yell, “CAN WE GO HOME NOW, DAD?”

New Windows

Enjoying lunch with the men from The house of Glass

A few years ago we had the insurance replace all of the big picture windows in our home. Now we are in the process of doing some major fixing up projects on our home. You can see that we need to fix the cement on our front walk as well as re stucco the house. In the end the plan is to have that all done. I'm hoping by August. We have a lot that needs to be done and I'm excited. Hopefully we can get all the major fix-ups done. The windows are the first step.....I guess.

Daddy, Daughter, Dances

It is so sad to me what dances have become. Here in Loa the "Good ol' family" dances at weddings are even fading out. But not here in our home, We regularly have dances. My camera ran out of memory while I recorded this but if you watch Oaklee closely you can tell how comfortable she is with dancing. I Love my Husband!! I Love his longing for the good old days where things were clean, fun and everyone went home happy and fulfilled. One of my favorite things to do with Roger is Dance with him right here in our very own home.yes, she slowly drifted off to sleep as I recorded. and yes, that's either Caib or Braden singing along in the background. Earlier Aubree danced with dad in the traditional "stand on dad's feet" style. I love our family dances!!!
