Which Grandkid is your favorite?

Something worth TOOTING!!! about.

Yesterday was Mom's (Grandma James)Birthday. I had all my kids call and talk to grandma and wish her a happy birhtday. I subconciously listened to each conversation as I was preparing dinner and finishing up the frosting on her Birthday cake.(That's right, Chance wasn't going to let us miss out on the celebration just because we couldn't come up. Thus the Birthday cake.) After each of my kids talked to grandma and the phone was hung up. I Said, to no one in particular, "So, how old is grandma?"

Aubree answered "She's 68"

Caibs reaction: "Holy cow!! She's Old!!"

Braden: "How old is she?" as he walkes back into the kitchen to join in on our partially heard conversation.

Aubree: "She's 68"

Bradens response "Wow! She's young. I thought she was at least 70"

Now Let's pretend that Caibs response was in Awe and respect rather than shock.
That Aubree was using an "I know something that you don't" attitude, rather than just stating a fact that she'd learned.
And that Braden was brown nosing instead of speaking out before thinking about the actual difference between the ages 68 and 70.
Which grandkid is your favorite?
That's right I'm trying to confuse you.
Happy Birthday, Mom. We all Love you and think your the greatest!! Hope your Birthday was really worth Tooting about, Caib Thought so. I mean, HOLY COW, 68!!!!!!

So this is what it's like to raise cowboys.

I've been through it all twice before, so I kind of know what to expect. But it still makes me laugh, anyway.

The only thing this picture is lacking is a gun and holster.

The percs of this attire include: If you have a batch of unwanted puppies. You can get at least $20.00 a piece for the cute little things. Just simply set this kid at the store with the box of puppies and a sign that says Puppies Twenty Bucks a piece. Just make sure it's tourist season or staff change at Aspen. I've even had people hand the kids 5.00 dollars just because they enjoyed seeing them all decked out. (that dosen't help with the puppy problem but it sure saves me when the kids think they need a drink or treats while they sit there.)

This picture really dosen't show the full affect. but, it's all I got this morning. Chance has been tying up "cows"(chairs).

Usually there are a lot more chairs and ropes, with a lot of yelling involved.

And finally this last picture just happens to show what it's like to be married to a true cowboy. (I just want to make it very clear, first, that if this really bothered me it wouldn't be like this.)

One strength of a cowboy is his amazing ability to fix anything, and I mean anything, with wire and a pair of pliers or fencing tool, whichever is available when the problem arises. As life goes on I love to look back and remember the good times, but mostly the jokes that only me and my be loved cowboy get. Fixing things with wire and pliers is one of them.

Caught off guard.

I'm Tired!

My three youngest have taken night shifts. starting at midnight. Oaklee starts, she fusses and wants to eat so up I get and go take care of her. Chance takes 2:00A.M. he comes pattering into my bed and stands there beside me untill I either scream out of pure fear or help him crawl into bed with me(usually the latter, thankfully) after snuggling for 20-30 minutes I can usually safely carry him back to bed and he'll stay asleep. Then Oaklee takes another turn. It's 4:00 A.M. and she's hungry again. Sigh.... then 5:00 rolls around and I hear the stairs creek and wait as Aubree shows up at the side of my bed. I can usually talk her into sleeping on the couch for another hour or two but by 5:30 Chance wakes up for the day and lays in bed chattering untill 6:30 when Braden get's up to get ready for school. So....I'm tired. The only night hawk I ended up with, Caib. sleeps peacefully untill 7A.M. and then grumbles and groans his way out to feed the calves and check the sheep

By the way we have had 4 new little lambs. sorry I haven't gotten a picture of the one surving lamb yet. I'm kind of tired and a little discouraged at the stupidity of these sheep. One mother layed on hers and it died the other mother had triplets and not enough milk. hmmmm maybe thats why their previous owner sold them. ah well we should get lucky with the next 5.

I think I might start a little column titled Chancee's Chatterings. Yesterday he and Aubree were sitting at the table. Aubree was irritating him by pretending to wipe her hands on his back. He was getting madder and madder at her. He kept yelling "AUBEE, Stop!!!! AUBEE Don't!! ". finally he turned looked right at her and said "Hey! I not a paper towel!" That got Aubree laughing and solved the problem.. She quit wiping her hands on him and they continued eating. Thank heavens for quick thinking and a sense of humor. After all, I was really too tired to deal with fighting children.

Side Tracked

O.K. here's Rogers declutter job. actually,he's just not finished. (Scroll down to my last post to see why I put this picture on).
But after I took that picture I got side tracked taking pictures of why he "decluttered" the shed. We bought some sheep this year and they were scheduled to lamb now instead of in march when we usually lamb so Roger built a lambing pen right outback so now I get to help lamb. It's my first time lambing. I'm so excited. Chance and I go out two or three times a day to see if we have any lambs yet. So far we don't. I'll post a picture of our first lamb. There's not many things cuter than a brand new little lamb.

Declutter, Those winter blues.

It's curl up read and hibernate time. except I don't have a lot of time to hibernate so I usually just end up reading. But then, I decided to venture out to Relief Society today and the lesson was "How to declutter your house". Sigh.......sigh.......I guess I'll go finish this trilogy I started and then begin decluttering. I even had the teacher offer to help me. She actually was very inspirational and really thinks I'm capable. Let's just pray that I don't get caught up in another book to soon. My ultimate goal, before the month of January is over, is to have the attic decluttered.

I'm just trying to decide if I should do it like Rogers done the shed. I think I'll post a picture of that. Hay!!! It works.

Cowgirl or Princess

Here's my question today.
Am I raising a Princess Or am I raising a cowgirl?

Either way, she's definately a daddys girl.

New Year

I love the idea of New Years resolutions. I'm all for improvement and bettering myself. I dutifully sit down at the beginning of each year and make out my list. I do have to admit, though, that my lists have become much more fun and realistic the older I've gotten. For example: I no longer put anything on my list that has to do with food weight or healthy. I no longer put anything on my list that includes faithfully carrying out any activity that requires consistency. Like doing something each day of the year, not gonna happen. Instead, I've tried to find things to put on my list that I can actually accomplish. And ,if not ,I sure have a heck of a lot of fun trying. This year I'm going to learn to ride a unicycle. I'm going to laugh more (that goes hand in hand with learning to ride the unicycle) Finally, I'm going to potty train Mr. "You're three years old and I'm not buying any more diapers for you." I figure that ones a given. He's really close, just stubborn. That's where the laughing more, really, comes in GRRRRR....

I'm not done with my list yet. I think I have more fun making the list than actually accomplishing it. I'm looking forward to a great year. After all, sometimes, theres no two ways about it. After last year it's got to get better.

The picture is just because I like picture. Theres no real New Years Connection.
