Princess or Cowgirl?

The other day Aubree and I decided we would make some cookies. We do it all the time but this time I told her to get out the butter and told her that we could use the butter I had just made. She gave me a weird look and then told me that she didn't want to make cookies with butter made from our cow.
A couple of weeks ago we got a new, Jersey Milk cow. She's a great milker with very rich milk, so we've been milking her every morning and using her milk. Aubree is not a fan of milk anyway but trying to get her to drink milk from the milk cow isn't even possible. (If she knows thats where the milk came from). So back to the cookies. I finally gave up trying to get her to use the fresh butter and we used Margerine. Well...Aubree thought about the whole situation for awhile then came and found me and said.
"Mom, I must be more princess then cowgirl."

"Why is that?" I asked

"Because," She said " I just don't like drinking cows milk or using cows butter."

Hmmm. I guess she is more of a princess. But I wouldn't trade that for anything. I just agreed with her and continue to use cows milk in her oatmeal and cows butter on her toast.

Summer Finally Feels Right

I spent 2.5 hours in the garden today. AHHH I feel great!!! and it occured to me that as much as my boys complained(Not to much, just enough to see if they could get out of weeding.)that they felt great, too When we got finished I heard Caib say " wow!! That looks a lot better" Do you ever feel guilty and think maybe I make my kids do to much. I always do. But I decided today that it was worth it. and hopefully my kids are learning that hard work(weeding IS hard and tedious) is satisfying and something you can do to feel as if your accomplishing something. Well, Braden has been pestering me for 30 minutes now to go and change sprinklers. I just wanted to take a few minutes and say HURRAH! for good, hard work.

One Week Old and Trying to Adjust.

My poor older kids!! I feel like they're missing out on so much because of their new little sister. So yesterday we went over to grandmas house and borrowed her little slip and slide. While they spent about an hour playing Oaklee and I sat on the porch and watched. It was a sorry attempt to make up for their having to miss the Seven Peaks James reunion But, they seemed to enjoy it.

The waiting game

Isn't Aubree a great photographer? Just remember it's her photo subject that makes her look good. I've been having contractions off and on all day today. I know, I know, all that really means is .........Anytime now, But I'm going crazy!! and I'm pretty uncomfortable to boot. I swear I have never felt this anxious (Probably a lie) about getting a baby here. I blame it on my age. Here's my new philosophy: If your gonna have a baby when your my age(Just about 40) Make sure it's your first cause then you don't know that it's easier when you're younger, even three years younger. Oh Well, I am kidding, but I sure am looking forward to this babies birth despite having to go through labor and recovery.

Roger would love to have a baby born on the Fourth of July he keeps calling and suggesting names like
"How about Betsy Ross Or Liberty Belle," Or he'll call and say
"Look up Thomas Jeffersons wifes name."
His favorite so far is Dolley Madison Brian
"Doesn't that sound good together?"
I love it when he calls It makes me laugh when I am otherwise miserable but excited.
