A Love of Reading

"A picture says a thousand words"
We've read, Journey to the center of the earth, 20,000 leagues under the sea, and are now starting on Moby Dick. He really wanted to read Around the world in eighty Days because...
"It's by Jules Verne too, Mom" unfortunately we don't have that one....yet.
This is the kid who comes upstairs at 6:00 AM with his book in hand and comes and stands by my bed in the dark and says "Can we read some more Mom?"
It all started with information books...He LOVES to gather Facts and remembers them.
Truthfully, I don't mind. There's something about this kid that makes gathering information and learning things....FUN!!

little Saturday projects to do in your P.J.'s

I don't know how long it's been since I spent a whole day in my P.J.'s cleaning and sewing in fact, I don't know if I've ever done that before. I know that this picture isn't exactly what you'd expect from a whole day, but I didn't have patterns for either the bag or the skirt so I did a lot of un picking on the bag. Oh and my bathrooms are sparkly and my floors are...... well..... were clean for a minute before lunch time.

I wasn't going to do this but I guess I will go get in the shower and get some dinner ready...I think we have a wedding reception to go to and I probably would be a bit more respectable if I were clean =)

modern day cowboy at the bar

Braden came walking in the kitchen all ready to go find the last bunch of sheep out on the mountain. I couldn't help noticing the belt full of bullets.

"Uh....What ya hunting?" Says I,

"Coyotes and rabbits." Came his slow drawled out reply as he picked up the computer to check his grades. When he sat down at the bar I couldn't help but grab the camera for a shot.

Incidentally, His nickname on the high school basketball team is.......Redneck. I LOVE my cowboys.

The true story!

Chance and Oaklee were in Oaklee's room playing Rapunzel When I heard Oaklee/Rapunzel announce to the Handsome Eugene/ Chance,

"If you be nice I'll let down my hair.

Hm.....Thinks I, they must be playing the happily ever after part of the story. Somehow Oaklee already has the true story figured out.

Where DID she learn that????

First dogies have arrived

Dogie season has arrived. We started out with a little lamb. I don't think it knows how to shut up. If it's hungry it carries on and on if we just fed it it carries on and on if we go outside it jumps up and carries on. Yesterday the little thing lost it's voice for about half the day. But, this morning he'd found it and was right back at it. The little calf had a bit of a ruff start, I had to belly feed her with this contraption so that she would have enough nourishment to get up and eat. You just have to get the milk right into her belly and by pass the sucking being careful not to drown them.
She seems to have made it, though, and now she'll take a bottle. I think calves are the cutest baby animals ever!! She also got a night in the heat box.
So, now I'm almost to the point I can mix the milk up and send the little ones out to feed the dogies
I got a kick out of Oaklee's lamb feeding outfit. Typical little country girl (princess)
Notice the shoes. They're called Mucks, They're winter corral boot's She tried to find her cowboy boots to wear but these were a little more convenient. I LOVE country girls!!!
