As close as we get to a slumber party.

Yeah, I'm the mean Mom, I don't believe in Slumber Parties. Awhile Back we had an adult session of Stake Conference where we could ask questions from our Stake president and he would answer them. Some one asked the question "What do you think the most important thing we could do for our teenagers to keep them safe in this wicked world?" He stood there for almost a minute before he finally said, "No Sleepovers," He then paused for emphasis and continued, "Usually and more often then you can imagine I'll have a youth sit across from me in tears because of the mistakes they've made and it all stemmed in one way or another from sleep overs." So.. Roger and I decided we wouldn't allow sleep overs with the kids. So when Chance and Oaklee both grabbed a pillow and laid down on the cold hard floor and fell asleep with their stuffed animals I thought I'd better get a picture of the only sleep over they're likely to have. even though ten minutes later I carried them to their rooms.
I know, I m the meanest mom around , How boring, a ten minute sleepover with your sibling in your own family room. But, hey, they made the best of it.

Quiet Thought

A Lantern Light

The light in early summer is so bright and beautiful,

My pathway is bathed in heavens glow.

Small children laugh and twirl as they follow closely there.

Blossom petals falling like the snow.

And in the evening hours just as dusk has settled in,

And the angled light fades behind the hill.

The pathway disappears for the sun has left the earth,

And my heart, it takes a sudden chill.

But, just when things are darkest and I think my way is lost,

A lantern light flickers on the trail.

My journey can continue if I turn towards the light,

And to my destination I’ll prevail.

There are lights along our way and they flicker on and off.

Eagerly I watch and feel their glow.

How my heart is filled with love for the keepers of their lights,

For without them I would not know where to go.

Chef Aubree

Seems like lately I've been posting a whole bunch of mini blogs...Oh well they're all important little things that I always want to remember. This is a picture of Aubree in her new apron. After helping her make a skirt a couple of weeks ago with the bag to go with it she decided that she just couldn't go on living with out an apron. So.. On Presidents day while dad was finishing the floors in his office, we whipped up this little apron for her. She loves it and wears it for all kinds of activities. Not just baking.
And the floor in the new office looks great, too. It's nice to have all the office stuff in this house in a spot of it's own, and my bedroom is just a bedroom now.......well sort of...we do have a treadmill and inverted hanging board thingy for Rogers back. It's funny how little projects like that make this time of year a little more cheery. (Floors and apron)
